Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Boys U14 soccer team recently completed a successful season, winning the MAYS U14 championship and making a strong run in the state championships.
Roy Orciuch, the team's head coach, noted that many of the players have been teammates for the past 10 years, since they were about five years old.
“Many of them will be playing for either Shrewsbury High or St John's in the fall. However, they will always be a ?team of friends who took care of each other on and off the field,” he said.”
The team played well in the state championships, Orciuch said, and did not allow a goal in the first 2-1/2 games before losing to a strong team from Braintree.
“Overall it was a highly successful season capping off a wonderful run as a team,” Orciuch said.
“I am proud to have coached this team and know that each of these young men has a promising future ahead.”
The team is: Chris Dewolfe, Connor Giedymin, Hamza Khalid, Kyle Orciuch, Kevin Murphy, Christian Ionete, Tim Smith, Kyle Simmons, Martin Davis, Alex Purple, Cam Morris, Andrew Weeden, John, Fay, Joe Rezuke, Conall Persechino, Omar Nassri, and Andrew Perugini. ?Assistant Coach Scott Morris was the assistant coach and Chase Orciuch served as ball boy.
