Westborough – On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Westborough High School (WHS) Rangers for a Cure will be holding the third annual Rangers Tackle Leukemia football game to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event will take place on the football turf at 1 p.m. when the WHS Rangers take on the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders.
During the football game, club members will be selling t-shirts and “orange merchandise” and offering a 50/50 raffle to support the cause. A ceremony honoring those who have battled cancer or who are currently battling cancer will take place during halftime. Anyone wishing to honor someone or to be honored during the ceremony is asked to contact Rangers for a Cure President Katie Bretta at [email protected].
The mission of Rangers for a Cure is to raise funds for cancer organizations, raise awareness about all types of cancer, and support those affected in the community. In addition to the upcoming Rangers Tackle Leukemia football game, the club will be making meals and visiting with Hope Lodge patients and selling ornaments during the holiday season for St. Jude Research Hospital.
Faculty advisor for Rangers for a Cure is social studies teacher Colleen Gormley, who gave special thanks to juniors Emily Desmond and Katie Jablon for their efforts in coordinating the event.
“They have really been the backbone of this event and have worked tirelessly to make it the best it can be,” said Bretta.
