Worcester – The second-seeded Shrewsbury softball team defeated third-seeded Grafton in a Central Division 1 semi-final playoff by a score of 4-0. The game was played June 12, at Worcester State University.
Shrewsbury scored one in the bottom of the first when Sasha Brownstein scored from second base on a Jess Gillis single. Brownstein also hit a triple and later scored on a single by Gracie O’Hara single during the third inning when Shrewsbury put up another three runs. Molly O’Neill pitched a complete game, earning the win and striking out 12.
Sofia Valverde hit a single and double for Grafton. Jess Evans pitched a complete game, striking out 3.
Shrewsbury (18-4) moves on to face the undefeated top-seed Wachusett (22-0) in the division finals, which will be played Saturday, June 16 at Worcester State University. Grafton concludes their season with an overall 19-3 record.
