Boston  – State Sen. Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) recently welcomed Katelyn Buckley of Shrewsbury to the Statehouse House as part of the office internship program. Buckley interned within Moore’s office for several days during the month of June.

As a rising senior at Shrewsbury High School, Buckley is an active member of the school’s award-winning theatre program and a senior leader of the Speech and Debate team. She also works to promote school-wide diversity through the Black History Committee. She is also actively engaged in the school community as the Editor-In-Chief of a student-run political journal, The Blue Club, which encourages the adoption of progressive policies at the state and federal levels.

Outside of school, Buckley volunteers for doctors in China by recording the English pronunciation of medical passages, and enjoys reading about current events in politics. She is particularly passionate about environmental and educational policy, as well as immigration reform.

After high school, she hopes to attend a liberal arts university in the fall of 2020. She is currently keeping to double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science, and ultimately would like to pursue a career as an environmental lawyer.

Interns in Moore’s Statehouse office assist with daily office operations, conduct legislative research, attend informational seminars with legislators and constitutional officers, and have a first-hand opportunity to observe the Massachusetts legislative process.
