Norton – Donna Camille (Fossett) Johnson, age 86, of Norton, formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence.
Born in Gardiner, Maine on March 17, 1937, she was a loving daughter of the late Earl S. and Evelyn L. (Cox) Fossett.
Donna grew up in Augusta, Maine and was a graduate of Cony High School in Augusta. She continued her education, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine in Orono where she had the distinction of being chosen as a member of the All Maine Women Honor Society.
A retired Principal at the Clara Macy Elementary School in Bellingham, Mrs. Johnson began her teaching career at the Grafton Middle School. Later in life, while teaching, she furthered her education and received a master’s degree in education at Worcester State University.
Donna’s favorite times were those spent in the presence of her loving family, dear friends and beloved cat Gracie. She had made her home in Norton for the past eighteen years and would often volunteer her assistance at the Norton Animal Shelter. Her hobbies included spending time with family at Echo Lake in Maine and making greeting cards with friends. Donna also enjoyed arts & crafts, gardening, cooking and studying family history.
She is survived by her devoted children: Deanna L. Crist and her husband Randy of Omaha, Nebraska, Eric J. Johnson and his wife Teresa of Norton and Edward Bryan Johnson and his wife Mihoko of Singapore. She was the cherished and proud grandmother of Laura M. Johnson and Rachael M. Johnson. She is also survived by her former husband Edward E. Johnson of Millbury.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 20th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
A service in celebration of her life will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. A reception will follow at a location to be announced on Thursday.
