Donald A. AhlmanOct. 9, 1948 — Nov. 13, 2023

Hudson – Donald A. Ahlman, 75, of Hudson, MA, passed away unexpectedly on November 13th 2023, from what we (his three children) believe was from a broken heart from the loss of our mother, his loving wife, less than five months ago.

Donald (aka Biffy; Donnie), was born in Lowell, MA on October 9, 1948, and was raised in Wayland, MA, the son of the late Arthur Ahlman and Alice (Maine) Ahlman. Donnie, loving father and husband of his predeceased wife of 51.5 years, Barbara J. Ahlman; daughters Wendy (Ahlman) Wheeler and her husband Robert of Hudson, MA, and Laura Ahlman of Marlborough, MA; his son Shane Ahlman, of Worcester, MA; his three beloved grandchildren, granddaughter Jayden Wheeler of Hudson, MA and his two grandsons, Kolby and Brandon Resendes of Hudson, MA and his beloved step-grandchildren Kevin Wheeler and Colton Wheeler of Auburn, MA. He was predeceased by his late brother Arthur Ahlman and his wife Carol Ahlman, his three predeceased sisters, Doris Moran, Elynor Ahlman and Judy Nunnally. He is also survived by his sister Kim Lindeman and her husband Mike of Bellingham, MA and his brother David Proulx and his wife Shirley, of Norfolk, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom he loved very much.

He worked as a machinist specializing in brazing and soldering. He was the most loyal of employees, working for 41 years at the same family-owned business, K-Tron Inc in Marlborough, MA and Kittredge & Sons Inc in Hudson, MA. Even at 75 years of age he was still working full-time, in fact working right up until it was time to be reunited with his beloved wife, Barbara.

His greatest joy was being with his wife, Barbara, and spending time with his family. Working hard and his family were Donnie’s greatest passions. He enjoyed yard work, loved the winter months, especially when his children were young, driving in the snow, sledding and making snowball lighthouses and loved carpentry projects (using only oak wood of course). His personality was a hard read for some, but he was a man that would help anyone in need, a dedicated and devoted husband, father, gunky/grampy. Donnie will always be remembered by those who loved and knew him.

Calling hours for Donald will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4pm-7pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A brief period of visitation will be held beginning at 10am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service beginning at 11am; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA.
