Northborough – Nancy (Pacific) Lundy, 82, of Northborough MA, died on Friday, January 19, 2024, after a 9-year battle with cancer and Parkinsons. She passed peacefully at her home with her family by her side.
Nancy was born in 1941 to George and Imperia Pacific. She was the eldest of the ten Pacific children. She graduated from St Anne’s Academy in 1959 in the top of her class. Following high school, Nancy went on to begin her nursing degree at Shepherd Gill in Boston. She married Dwight Howe in 1965 and had her first three children Nathan, Nadine and David. Although she and Dwight divorced, they remained long-time friends.
In 1975, Nancy met her husband John “Jack” Honey, a retired CPO in the US Navy. They married in 1977 and had their daughter Glorrie. In 1981, Nancy and Jack became legal guardians of his nephew Ricky adding number 5 to the family. Even with 5 kids at home, Nancy continued her education and earned her LPN from Mass Bay. Years following Jack’s death, she married Richard “Dick” Lundy in 1998, adding Sean Lundy to the family as her stepson.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and big sister. She is survived by her children and their spouses Nathan Howe, Nadine and Jerry Tanoury, David and Rachel Howe, Glorrie and Daryll Washkewits and Sean and Lindsay Lundy. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Ethan, Devon, Gwen, Ava, Trey, Sophia, Juliette and James. She leaves behind her amazing brothers and sisters, Harry, George, Paul, Joe, David, Donald, Terry, and Debbie, along with their spouses, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by Jack Honey, Dick Lundy, Ricky Garcia, sister Ruth (Pacific) Chamberlain and parents George & Imperia.
Nancy had a professional career working as a nurse, business owner and nanny. After graduating from Nursing School, she worked as an overnight nurse for 10 years until leaving to care for her children full time. In 1988, she co-founded “Our Cleaners” in Bedford and Concord and followed up with 2 more stores in Medway and Uxbridge. Through the business, she cleaned uniforms for US Military, First Responders, local town and school sports teams, and helped local victims of fire with Disaster Recovery. Many services were discounted or donated to help these great causes and people in need.
In addition to Nancy’s working career, she was known as a philanthropist, advocate, and volunteer. At various points in her life she was a Girl Scout leader, 50-year Red Cross blood and platelet donor, volunteer with Shriner’s Hospitals, Color Guard member with the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary member, 20-year+ Volunteer Crisis Counselor for a domestic violence hotline, committee member for Medway MADD, original committee member of Medway Town Pride Day, Board member of the Medway Baseball League, and other charitable and public causes when she had time.
Additionally, she brought her family and their friends on literally hundreds of excursions to the Boston Museum of Science beginning in the 1960’s until her last trip in 2022. She was a long-time Patriots and Red Sox fan. She and Dick enjoyed numerous tropical getaways to the Caribbean. She loved nature and being outside, taking her family on white water rafting and hiking trips (Mount Katahdin was her favorite). She enjoyed working outdoors in the yard, but indoors, you could always find a book, a newspaper, a crossword puzzle or knitting needles in her hands.
More than anything Nancy loved her family selflessly and supported all their activities and endeavors. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her loved ones at music and dance recitals, sporting events and school productions.
Calling hours for Nancy will be held on February 2, 2024, at Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St, Marlboro, MA, 5pm-7pm, followed by a memorial service immediately after in the same facility. A Catholic service, private reception and private burial will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
