Westborough Public Library to host “Travel to China: From Preparation to Immersion”

Westborough – Photographer and tour operator Richard Ferland will present “Travel to China: From Preparation to Immersion” Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m., at the Westborough Public Library.

As a tour operator, Ferland has a wealth of information on the practical side of travel to China, with guidance on everything from when to go and what to pack, to how to shop and bargain. As both a visitor and someone who has lived and worked there for a number of years, he has immersed himself in Chinese culture. He will teach you some phrases to help you get by and gain acceptance, give you tips on interacting with the locals, and present a slideshow featuring his award-winning photographs of China.

A lifelong photographer and graduate of Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts, Ferland has extensive experience in China, having lived and worked there for a number of years. He is currently a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and the Merrimack Valley Camera Club.

“Travel to China” is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St., at 508-366-3050.
