The C.A. six tips of the day for April 25Today is Wednesday, April 25, the 116th day of 2012.

On this day in 1953, U.S. Sen. Wayne Morse of Oregon ended the longest filibuster in the history of the U.S. Senate. His speech on the Offshore Oil Bill lasted 22 hours and 26 minutes. Interestingly, Morse was at various times a Republican, Independent and then finally a Democrat.

On this day in 1945 delegates from 50 countries met in San Francisco to organize the United Nations.

On this day in 1990 the U.S. Hubble Space Telescope was placed into Earth's orbit. It was released by the space shuttle Discovery.

And on this day in 2007 the Dow Jones industrial average closed above 13,000 for the first time.

Today's birthdays include – actors Al Pacino (1940) and Jason Lee (1970), Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA (1945), and Meadowlark Lemon, the legendary basketball player with the Harlem Globetrotters (1932).

A special happy birthday wish goes out today to Hudson's own Paul Cellucci. The former Massachusetts governor turns 69 today!
