Grafton – Apple Tree Arts has been given the 2015 Exemplary Program Award from Musikgarten, the leader in early childhood music education. The nonprofit community school of the arts won the award for its outstanding contribution in bringing music education to local communities.
“We were recognized for providing a comprehensive, playful music program rooted in the belief that starting music at an early age helps children develop their highest learning potential and creative thinking,” said Education Director Jan Barlow. “It’s rewarding to have the opportunity to help children achieve musical literacy and to offer the full breadth of the internationally renowned Musikgarten curriculum.”
Apple Tree Arts offers a full music program for children from birth to age 10 using the age-appropriate and sequential Musikgarten curriculum. Courses include early childhood music and movement classes, the “Steppin’ Up” classes for children 4 and 5 years old and “Keyboard Magic” group keyboard classes for children 6 to 10 years old. Children are introduced to music in ways that are both joyful and stimulating.
The school also provides theatre arts programs, private instrumental and voice instruction, ensembles and community concerts year round. Founded in 1989, Apple Tree Arts, a nonprofit organization, serves over 1,000 children and adults.
