Spinners to raise money for Clardy children

Region - A special night to honor the late Trooper Thomas Clardy and raise money for the Clardy Children’s Fund will be held by the Lowell Spinners Sunday, July 17. Clardy, a resident of Hudson, was killed in the line of duty March 16 while conducting a routine traffic stop on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Charlton.

Northborough photographer Jeanine Vitale's “Journey” on display at Westboro Gallery

Northborough- From April 15 to July 6, the Westborough Gallery is featuring Northborough's Jeanine Vitale photography exhibit called, "Journey." Formally trained in the performing arts, with degrees in vocal performance and education, Vitale has created "a second life" as a successful photographer. Most of her current work weaves the various elements of past art forms to create a unique visual tapestry. According to Vitale, she "draws upon a lot of sources for inspiration while working on the ideas for the pictures in my current exhibit - my own past, music and singing, poetry, dreams and spirituality."

Over 300 participate in Mary Beth Benison Foundation 5K Road Race

Region - The weather held out on Oct. 15 for over 300 runners participating in the 2nd Mary Beth Benison (MBB) Foundation 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run. The foundation uses the MBBF 5k as a way to honor the late Mary Beth Benison, a Northborough resident who passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2015 and another individual from Central Massachusetts who is living with ALS or who has passed away from ALS. This year’s race was in memory of Maryellen Standring who lived in Holden and passed away from ALS in 2014.
