Local runners complete the Boston Marathon

Region - Despite the increased security put in place this year, the atmosphere along the course of the 118th Boston Marathon was festive April 21. The spectators cheered, rang cowbells, waved signs and shouted out encouragement to individual runners. The runners were interacting with the crowd and many were thanking the public safely officials along the route. Along the course, there was a live band playing at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton and the outdoor speakers at TJ's Food and Spirits in Ashland were blaring local favorites such as "Sweet Caroline."
