Southborough – Beauty and talent were on display recently at the Southborough Library when the Southborough Gardeners Club held its "Art in Bloom" exhibit.

Shrewsbury – Liam Davidson has had a busy fall, handling a demanding workload as a sophomore at St. John's High School as well as participating in crew. But there was also one other major project that the 16-year-old had on his agenda over the past few months - taking a leadership role in helping to organize a major community event – the third annual Turkey Trot. Liam's reason for helping with the event, which is a two- or five-mile walk, is a very personal one. The trot, to be held in Shrewsbury on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, is in honor of his late grandfather, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Justice Francis P. O"Connor, who died in 2007 of Alzheimer's disease.

Hudson Scouts earn award for park project

Hudson - Hudson Junior Girl Scout Troop 72739 recently earned their Bronze Award, the highest award achievable by Junior Girl Scouts. To earn the award, the girls each completed at least 20 hours of service to refurbish the gardens and park structures at Tripps Pond, located on Green Street. The girls weeded the garden beds, planted additional perennials, trimmed trees, raked lawns and picked up trash. They also sanded and stained all the picnic tables, as well as several wooden park benches.

Retiring superintendent puts “kids first”

Westborough - The experienced mentor, the super superintendent, and the beloved principal, Mrs. Marianne O"Connor, is retiring this year. She, who has spent 22 whole years in the Westborough School District and 30 impressive years in education, is retiring. Leaving. In retirement, Mrs. O"Connor plans to spend more time with her family, her "94-year-young mother," and grandchildren in Newtown, Connecticut.

Northborough gets “active”

Northborough – On a beautiful, sunny morning, over 100 local residents participated in the first "Northborough Gets Active" 5K Road Race and Walk April 27. The event was a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Northborough, Inc. and the Northborough Recreation Department.

Worcester - – The number 1 seed Shrewsbury High School Pioneers baseball team was defeated by the number 6 seed St. Peter-Marian High School Guardians by a score of 15-4 in the MIAA Central Division 1 finals. The game was played at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on June 13.
