Hudson - The Hudson Board of Selectmen unanimously voted July 10 to endorse the renaming of the Washington St. Bridge in memory of Kenneth Thibault, a Hudson resident who died while fighting for the United States in the Vietnam War almost 50 years ago.

Snell wins South Street Diner scholarship

However, rather than coming for food, Snell came to collect a check. Snell won this year’s South Street Diner scholarship after outgoing owners Phyllis Keene and Mark Sullivan selected her essay as the best they received. The annual contest asks applicants to write an essay describing what the diner means to them.

Rail Trail Flatbread plans fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club

Hudson - This Father’s Day, June 18, the Rail Trail Flatbread Company will host a special buffet style brunch to raise money for the Hudson Boys and Girls Club. The event, entitled Flapjacks and Flatbreads, is the first such fundraiser from the company’s Community Outreach team, which formed late last year.

First responders raise money for charity at ‘Heroes Cup’

Marlborough - Nearly 1,000 first responders from the U.S. and Canada raised money for charity during the recent Heroes Cup hockey tournament held at the New England Sports Center (NESC) in Marlborough from April 21-23. The brainchild of Sudbury firefighter Mike Matros, the tournament and its organizers partnered with the Last Call Foundation to donate 25 percent of its fundraising to the charity. In addition to the Last Call Foundation, teams then selected individual charities to represent. Organizers donated sections of the remaining money to those charities at the end of the tournament.

Marlborough first responders learn techniques to help car crash victims

Marlborough - More than a dozen Marlborough first responders gathered at Al Brodeur's Auto Body Shop April 8 for training in the use of mechanical tools to extricate trapped patients from cars after accidents. Organized by Brodeur’s, the event offered first responders one hour of classroom instruction and two hours of hands on practice using state-of-the-art tools to break windows, cut car frames and pry apart doors.
