Westborough– Although the balmy temperatures didn's exactly make it feel like a winter wonderland, Westborough's downtown, and in particular, the town's rotary, looked like one the evening of Nov. 27. That's because the entire area was once again lit up with Christmas lights, thanks to the generosity of the Westborough Rotary Club. The club sponsors the annual Festival of Lights each year as a community service project.
Hundreds of residents, young and old, along with many family dogs, gathered at dusk at the site for the traditional festival. In spite of the nice weather, many residents also enjoyed the free hot chocolate and cookies handed out by kids from the New Hope Chapel. The Westborough Community Chorus got everyone into the spirit with a sing-along of traditional Christmas songs.
Then, thanks to the Westborough Fire Department, a fire truck arrived on the site with a very special guest – Santa Claus. Youngsters crowded around him as he made his way to the chair set out for him on the stage at the center of the rotary. And by the looks of the long line of kids waiting to have a moment to chat with him, it appears that Westborough's children have indeed been very good this year.
