Shrewsbury – Donald J. Mallozzi, 84, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, died peacefully at home Wednesday Aug. 10, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 51 years, Carole E. (Dunn) Mallozzi, died in 2007.
He is survived by a son, Michael J Mallozzi and his wife Andrea of Scarborough, Maine; a daughter, Donna M. Perkins and her husband Stephen of Holden; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Michaela; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Mallozzi II.
Born in Worcester, son of the late Anthony Sr. and Katheryn (Polachi) Mallozzi, he had lived in Shrewsbury for over 50 years. He was a graduate of St. John's High School and Becker Junior College.
Mr. Mallozzi was the owner and operator of the Mallozzi Insurance Agency, which was founded by his father many years ago. He was a longtime member of the Church of St. Mary in Shrewsbury, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the Ray Stone American Legion Post.
He really enjoyed going to work every day and had a keen sense of business. He and his wife were world travelers, twice on cruises around the world going to the Caribbean, Europe, South America and the Far East. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family, especially at the holidays. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday Aug. 15 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday Aug. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. Interment with his wife will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
