Jean G. BrennanMarlborough – Jean Gardner Brennan, 89, of Marlborough and formerly Bridgewater passed away Aug. 2, 2021 at her residence. She was the wife of James R. Brennan for the past 68 years and caring mother to her seven children.

Jean was born in 1932, the daughter of the late William Gordon and Beatrice Shea Gardner, in Hampton, Va. She graduated in 1954 from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Horticulture.

Jean loved nothing more than a cup of coffee and conversation with her family and friends. She enjoyed art and making jewelry, gardening, and traveling. She will be remembered for her smile as well as her generous and joyful nature, her commitment to her faith and community, and her kind, welcoming and accepting spirit to all.

Besides her husband, James, she leaves six children, Cathy Lauwers and her husband Steve of Concord, N.H., Pat Brennan and his wife Molly of Mount Jackson, Va., Mary Brennan Smith and her husband Alan of Franklin, John Brennan of Oxnard, Calif., Bill Brennan and his wife Cathy of Woodstock, Va., and Paul Brennan and his wife Diane of Sutton, along with 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Tom Brennan and leaves his wife, Lisa of Bourne, and was also predeceased by her brother, Bill Gardner of Hampton, Va., and sister, Ann Schaaf of Wilmington, Del.

A memorial and private burial will be held at a later date and there are no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
