Welcome to Marlborough!

Letter to the Editor logoWe were pleased to read that Marlborough will be welcoming more immigrant families to our diverse city. Our lives are greatly enriched by the large number of our neighbors that come from all over the Americas and beyond. City schools will face some temporary struggles as they absorb a large number of new students, but they will cope. We made it through COVID, this is a much more manageable situation. And as people who grew up in an integrated school system, we can say the experience of sitting in classrooms and going to recess and lunch with people from all races and backgrounds was much more valuable to our later life than any single academic subject presented by our teachers. Dealing with the influx of these families is a burden, one made more difficult by the Commonwealth’s mishandling, but it is temporary, and the long term benefits to our community more than offset the short-term struggles we face. Welcome to Marlborough!
