Eleanor S. PhillipsShrewsbury – Eleanor S. (Gaucher) Phillips, 88, passed away peacefully with family by her side at UMASS Memorial Hospital on Tuesday January 2, 2024.

Eleanor was born in Worcester on April 26, 1935, to Charles W. and Dorothy E. (Adams) Gaucher. She was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, graduating from Major Howard W. Beal High School and later from Quinsigamond Community College majoring in Nursing. She was a registered nurse and worked at several hospitals; retiring as a Nursing Administrator from Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

Eleanor was devoted to her family and her faith. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Nanny”.

Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, Andrew Phillips in 1987. She is also predeceased by her twin brother, Kenneth and her younger brother, Fire Chief (Ret.) Robert Gaucher.

Eleanor leaves behind her beloved daughter Paula Lusignan from Falmouth, son Peter and wife Deb, daughter Patricia Colonies and her husband James, son James, and daughter Karen Coghlin and her husband Tim, all of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Eleanor’s family will be celebrating her life privately with burial next to her husband, Andrew, in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

The Britton Shrewsbury Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
