“Andrew's Helpful Hands” helps families in need

0
Hudson - For John and Zenaide (Zee) Swenson, "Andrew's Helpful Hands" is a living legacy to their son, Andrew, and his desire to help others. At the age of 2, Andrew was diagnosed with ALL (a type of leukemia) and the Swensons" lives were turned upside down. Life centered around two years of hospital visits, admission stays and chemotherapy. Just two months after completing treatment, Andrew developed testicular cancer. He was just 4 years old. Following another regimen of chemotherapy and radiation, the leukemia returned and Andrew needed a bone marrow transplant.

Hudson runner with late start to sport inspires as head coach

0
Hudson - James Martin didn's run track or cross-country or do other sports in high school. Martin laced up his shoes and completed his first race in just over 38 minutes for five miles. He was instantly hooked and turned into a successful athlete and team leader. After college, he helped start a Boston-area trail running club, joined the International Sky Running Federation (ISF), and he's now Lasell's head cross-country coach. Thinking back on his start to running, Martin remembers cringing when he found out how long the race was. But that all changed
