Hudson – Family, friends, colleagues and townspeople gathered March 22 at St. Michael’s Church for the funeral service of State Trooper Thomas L. Clardy, 44, who lived in Hudson with his wife Reisa, and their six children, ages 4 to 17. Pallbearers were his colleagues from the Charlton barracks, where he was most recently stationed. Thousands of law enforcement officers from throughout the country attended to give him a final salute.

Westborough—After waiting more than a decade for an upgraded station, the police department had to wait a little longer May 12 Saturday as Annual Town Meeting (ATM) voters debated at length a $15 million proposal to renovate the Forbes Municipal Building. The article seeking to renovate the entire Forbes building, including updating space for the police department in the basement and on the first floor, was debated for well over an hour during the ATM’s afternoon session before voters supported it by a wide margin. After about 40 minutes, a move to cut off debate failed to garner the necessary two-thirds support of the 150 or so voters on hand.

Region - Mike Matros is a Marlborough resident, member of the Sudbury Fire Department and an avid hockey player. Northborough - Selectmen Jan. 11 voted to appoint David L. Parenti the town’s next fire chief. His appointment took effect the same day and capped an extensive search and screening process. Parenti replaces longtime chief Richard Durgin, who retired at the end of June.

Upon arrival the officers located a male subject who stated he had been stabbed in his abdomen. After a brief investigation, officers located the suspect, Eduardo Velasques, 27, of Trenton, N.J., outside his motel room and he was subsequently arrested.
