Shrewsbury – Helen Lorraine (Croteau) Pedone, 77, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 suddenly yet peacefully in her home.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Francis Pedone; her sons, Francis W. Pedone Jr. and his wife Susan of Spencer and Nicholas J. Pedone and his wife Shirley of Worcester; a brother, Robert “Joe” Croteau; two sisters, Phyllis Asselin and Linda Hanley; three adored grandchildren, Christina, Elizabeth and Evan; two cherished great-grandchildren, Jayson and Jocelynn; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Born in Millbury, a daughter of Wilfred and Blanche (Morin) Croteau, she attended Millbury High School and lived many years in Millbury before moving to Shrewsbury.
Mrs. Pedone was employed many years for the Big D Supermarkets before retiring.
She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, and when her boys were in school, she was an active member of the Holy Name High School Booster Club.
She was a quiet, simple woman who cherished her family and husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. The kids spent many happy hours at “Meme's” house. She loved to prepare a big Sunday family dinner and gather them all around. She will be missed greatly.
She will also be missed by her girlfriends at the Salem Square YWCA, where she enjoyed lots of fun in her swim aerobics classes.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, Jan. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her Celebration of Life funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 6 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St Brigid's Cemetery in Millbury.
