‘Boroughs Trail’ plan moves forward

Marlborough - The “Boroughs Trail” conceptual plan to create a regional trail linking existing and over 30 miles of proposed trail systems in Marlborough, Northborough, Westborough and Southborough was accepted by the City Council at the May 4 meeting. Marlborough-The annual Memorial Day parade, honoring veterans, active duty military men and women and those who have given their lives in service to our country, will take place Monday, May 27, starting at 10 a.m. Participants will assemble on lower John Street, off Route 85, proceed to Main Street and stop at war memorials along the parade route, concluding at Monument Square at Mechanic Street.

Town Meeting members, voters to determine future of Shrewsbury library

Shrewsbury - For the second time in three years, residents are being asked whether to approve a multimillion dollar renovation and expansion of Shrewsbury Public Library. The Board of Selectmen approved during its Sept. 24 meeting a Town Meeting (TM) warrant and special election that would pave the way for the library improvements. Under a funding formula known as Chapter 149A, the renovation/expansion would cost a projected $26.46 million, maximum, with $16.75 million to be borrowed under debt exclusion. About $8 million would be paid through a state grant, and $1.75 million would be gotten through fund-raising.

Operation Friendship dances to be held in Grafton

Grafton – Operation Friendship will hold dances for grades 5 to 8, Fridays, Feb. 5 and March 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Grafton Municipal Center, 30 Providence Road. The cost is $8 per child, and light refreshments will be for sale. There will be games, raffles and prizes, and other surprise activities. Operation Friendship is a nonprofit that encourages friendship and understanding via student exchange.
