Zenaide Swenson: ‘I love the Hudson community!’

Hudson – Zenaide “Zee” Swenson is best known in her hometown of Hudson as director of Andrew’s Helpful Hands (AHH). The nonprofit organization serves as a living legacy for her son, who passed away of leukemia at age 7 in 2002. Now, she hopes to share her experience as a community leader in her new role as the esteemed lecturing knight of Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge #959 in its fraternal year of 2016-2017.

Hudson – Stormtroopers roamed the grounds around the Hudson-Concord Elks #959 Pavilion when the third annual Millennium 5K was held May 22. In its first two years, the “Star Wars” themed fundraiser helped John and Sheryl Marrazzo make their Hudson home become wheelchair accessible including an elevator for their son Jake, 13, a seventh-grader at David J. Quinn Middle School. He lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness.

On the road to preparing fourth T’s Ride in Hudson

Hudson – The Xtreme Riders (XR) and the American Veterans Motorcycle Club (AVMC) are once again partnering to present the fourth annual T’s Ride, scheduled for Sunday, June 5, beginning and ending at the Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge #959. This memorial motorcycle ride celebrates the life of Tony “T” Fasulo, who passed away at age 48 in 2011 after crashing on Route 290 in Shrewsbury. Proceeds go to the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivors’ Fund (MMSF).

Take the Hudson High varsity softball team as one of the area’s most high-octane, high- momentum teams. Coming off an under-.500 season in 2015, the Hawks proceeded to run off eight wins out of the first nine contests before a slight mid-season slide. Confidence never wavered at any point even after a difficult May 14 evening matchup, falling to Auburn, 2-0.
