Volvo of Southborough invites public to Saturday morning ‘FIKA’ events

The management team at Volvo of Southborough would like to invite the public to their Saturday morning "FIKA" events for complimentary coffee and pastries. These Scandinavian- inspired events will take place every Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m. at their new dealership located at 251 Southborough Rd., (Route 9).

Shrewsbury Montessori School achieves initial accreditation by AISNE

Shrewsbury - Shrewsbury Montessori School (SMS) announced that it has been granted initial accreditation by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE). “We have Irish soda bread for St. Patrick’s Day, and then we will have special cakes for Easter, shaped like Easter eggs and Easter bunnies,” along with cookies decorated with the holiday themes, said Jon Lundstrom, owner of the Worcester bakery his father started in 1960. Members enjoy fun and games at Corridor Nine BBQ

Region – The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual summer BBQ July 15 at TEAMWORKS in Northborough. Corridor Nine and HYPE9 (the chamber’s young professionals group) organized the event. The steamy temperature had little impact on the 17 teams formed by Corridor Nine/HYPE9 members and guests that participated in the fun teambuilding activities. Taking home the first place trophy in the team building challenges were the team represented by St. Mary's Credit Union Team, Rivkah's Hair Studio, and Volvo of Southborough. The Corridor Nine Referral Group received an "Honorable Mention" for second place, and the Whitney Place at Northborough, Amcomm Wireless and Mirick O'Connell team were presented with the "Team Spirit" award.

700 age-restricted units planned for former State Hospital property

Westborough - Reid Blute, vice president of Pulte Homes in Westborough, appeared before the Board of Selectmen at their Sept. 12 meeting to gain their approval for Pulte’s conceptual plan for redevelopment of the Westborough State Hospital property. A total of 700 units, all age-restricted (at least one person 55 or over; no one under the age of 18) is being planned. Pulte is set to move from the due diligence to the permitting stage. The next step is to go before the Planning Board for special permits before coming back to the selectmen for site plan review. The board unanimously approved the conceptual plan.

Car wash proposed for Apex Center

Marlborough - Ryan Development is seeking approval for a special permit to construct an automatic car wash at the Apex Center on Route 20. The proposal, specifying a 2,470 square foot three-bay facility with vacuum stands, was introduced to city councilors at their Sept. 13 meeting. It is planned to stand next to a Chick-fil-A restaurant and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to Kevin Eriksen, general counsel for Ryan Development.
